Host was super helpful. There's lots of brochures to choose from for everything from goat farms to mountain biking to upscale food. Murphy has a lot to offer and the visitors center will help you find all the best stuff!

So very disappointed in my visit there today. My husband and I are new residents this year to the area and we have several guests visiting over the next month. I thought I would pick up a few brochures and menus to share with our first time visitors. The lady working was busy with another couple when I entered the center and appeared to be friendly and sharing many brochures with them. I overheard the man say they would need a bag if she gave them much more. Once that couple was leaving, the lady working came straight to me asking what I was doing and what I was looking for. I told her and she discouraged me from taking anything. I was told they had to make copies of things and that a lady from Andrews came today and almost cleaned them out I really felt like I should even put back the things I had already gathered because of her tone and comments I truly can’t tell you how this experience made me feel. I am an ICU nurse that had worked all night and after driving almost 2 hours on my way home was finishing my errands before driving another 35-40 minutes home. I am not sure what the purpose of the center is if not to help others. Sadly, I will be very hesitant to return and I surely will not recommend to others.

If you're visiting Murphy and aren't sure what to do or see, by all means stop here. Our original plans had to be cancelled so the nice ladies suggested several alternatives, one being a scenic drive we didn't know about. This is in Murphy's pretty downtown.

The lady working there was helpful, but no restroom for visitors. This is the 2nd city visitor center in NC that didn't have a public restroom. 🥺 08-22-22, Glad to hear you now have public restrooms.

Curmudgeon lady working here was super unfriendly and not helpful. Was even super rude telling us “you’re not in the big city anymore.”
